Resources for Program Graduates

Form Community

After completing a JustFaith Ministries program, all groups want to know “What next?” Some move directly to action, some stay together as a small group, and some struggle to find other connections. Almost everyone, though, longs for some level of Christian community.

In response, JustFaith Ministries has produced a JustMatters module, New Wineskins: Forming Mission Based Communities (MBC). The module introduces participants to a wider range if small Christian communities and provides a process for forming a Mission Based Communities (MBC). JustFaith Ministries describes an MBC as a group of individuals who:

  • intentionally commit to one another,
  • pray frequently for the needs of the world and each other,
  • together engage in ongoing formation, and
  • have a mission that is centered on the poor and vulnerable.

JustFaith Ministries also provides the documents Ten Opportunities for Involvement in Social Ministry and Engaging the World Together to all graduates. These documents describe a range of options for those who have completed a JustFaith Ministries program as well as lay out the rationale for forming a mission based community

Another excellent resource for forming small communities of faith is the JustFaith Ministries DVD, Deeper Water and Wider Nets: Forming Mission Based Communities. This DVD is divided into two parts: (1) a 24 minute presentation by Jack Jezreel entitled “Forming Mission Based Communities: The Context and Vision,” and (2) a 44 minute presentation by Sr. Elaine Prevallet, SL, entitled “Making Connections: A Community Going Deeper.”
